Behind the scenes at Oxford China Restoration Studio

This month, our very own Ed Berridge visited Jason and his team at Oxford China Restoration Studio to find out more about the wonderful work that they do. Jason has been a customer of Conservation Resources for a few years, regularly purchasing Steramould Moulding Compound and acetone, so it was great to meet him and see what he gets up to.

With over 30 years of experience in all aspects of china restoration, they specialise in invisible repairs to fine porcelain, including replicating missing pieces, (hands, arms, feet etc.) filling chips, cracks, taking moulds, re-glazing and gilding, removal of stains, unsightly rivets and lacings. And in addition to porcelain, they also work with pottery, terracotta, stoneware, earthenware, tiles, marble, painted plaster, alabaster and enamel.

Ed said. “It was fascinating to see some of the current projects that they are working on and the incredible attention to detail that they pay when restoring ceramics. In addition, the knowledge they have is invaluable and as one of their suppliers, it was great to have a chat with them about how we can constantly improve our product range to benefit them. In fact, we are already looking to implement some of the ideas that we came up with, to try and help Oxford China and hopefully a few more of our customers, with their conservation needs. “

As well as their amazing restoration work, Oxford China also provide a range of fantastic courses as either an introduction, or a more specialist foray, into the ceramic conservation world. Their courses are popular and draw students from across the world. For more information, or to book a place, we recommend that you visit their Facebook page.  https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Art/Oxford-China-Restoration-Studio-851465278388225/

If you are a business based in the UK, use our products, do things a little differently and would like a visit from the Conservation Resources team, then please do get in touch. We are hoping to visit several organisations over the coming months to see our products in action and of course find out how we can help you more.
