The traditional craft of binding books by hand

Last week, Jamie Briggs and Jamie Chatfield were delighted to visit Ian and Pauline at Temple Bookbinders of Oxford.

Established in 1994, Temple Bookbinders are dedicated to the restoration, preservation and re-binding of antiquarian books. Their small team of experts have more than one hundred years of experience between them and are regularly entrusted with repairing and refurbishing old and valuable books, taking a faded, crumbling dog-eared volume and restoring it to its former glory. They also specialise in slipcases and illustrated drop back boxes, which are made to order.

We watched the team at work and were amazed at the intricacy of their work. They pride themselves in continuing the traditional craft of bind books entirely by hand. And the results speak for themselves too.

During our time there, we covered a wide range of subjects, including how our products are helping them to achieve some incredible results. We also talked about our shared membership of The Royal Warrant Holders Association and its many benefits.
